Are you yearning to experience something magical? Well, there’s magic to be found, and savoured, in the unique world of The Glass Garden. Kitty Munro’s stained glass studio in Cobourg is a place of enchantment, artistic indulgence and inspiration. ?Discerning shoppers will discover an amazing selection of Munro’s stunning pieces, from small to large, for sale in the studio. For glass art hobbyists of any skill level, this is also a special place where you can enjoy classes and workshops all year round. ?Munro, a teacher with exceptional skill and patience, generously shares all her knowledge with students. Under her tutelage even true novices will accomplish beautiful creations with flair and finesse. Beginner classes, eight per session, include instruction in copper foil techniques. Students will create a small ornament and a glass panel. In Intermediate classes, six per session, students can choose their own patterns to expand their knowledge and skill. Advanced classes focus on three-dimensional pieces including lampshades, terrariums, glass boxes and more. All classes include the use of the studio tools, and are limited to four to six students. This ratio ensures each student receives as much attention and hands-on guidance as needed. Workshops include decorative soldering, double glazing, wind chimes and patio stones.?Munro assures: “Anyone can become adept at stained glass work. It’s all about learning the steps.”?The Glass Garden, carefully laid out to be a safe and energizing work space, is also a superior retail supplies centre with an extensive inventory of glass choices, assorted solders, grinders and bits, books and patterns and everything else glass artists could desire.?Munro shares her philosophy, the cornerstone of her business success: “If you want to be truly successful, over-deliver. Always give customers more than they expect. Put a cherry on top. Old-fashioned courtesy, quality products and attention to detail spell triumph.”?“Invest in yourself” is the mantra she shares with other women. The catalyst to her now flourishing business was a generous gift from her mother 13 years ago. Munro put a great deal of thought into how she could best serve herself, her dreams and honour the spirit of the gift. Deciding to invest in herself, she chose to combine her two passions: glass and gardening. After studying the pros and cons of a main street store versus home-based business, she decided that a home studio would best meet her needs and goals while enhancing her life. From inside the studio, looking out through Munro’s spectacular glass panels, ornaments and sun catchers, there is daily inspiration for everyone in her gardens and pond.?Her greatest reward? “Witnessing the budding artistry and the therapeutic value students discover in working with glass,” she says.?Everyone has a creative muse. Join Munro at The Glass Garden to discover yours. ?The studio, located at 125 Abbott Blvd., Cobourg, is open year-round, Tuesday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. For information about commissioned works and repairs, visit the website: www.glassgarden.ca and contact Munro at 905-373-4822 or by e-mail at kitty@glassgarden.ca .?Catherine Hawley, certified professional organizer and home stager, operates Downsizing Solutions in Northumberland.
